Retirement Celebration for David Faehner

David Faehner is retiring as vice president for University Advancement after 37 years of service to Andrews University. Dave’s work for the Seventh-day Adventist Church may represent one of the longest continuous employments at 57 years! Andrews University is blessed to have been a recipient of his enthusiasm, work ethic and passion for people for a large portion of that time. Dave has made a difference here. Many of the buildings we enjoy on campus are here, in part, because of the efforts of Dave and his team.

Members of the Class of 1972 will be inducted into the Golden Hearts Club after a roll call by the Alumni Association. Honored Alumni will be presented with the Andrews University Alumni Association Medallion, recognizing their outstanding service to church and community. Title: “Say It Yourself”

Heather Thompson Day, associate professor of communication at Andrews, is an interdenominational speaker and has been a contributor for Religion News Service, Christianity Today, Newsweek and the Barna Group. She is also the host of Viral Jesus, a new podcast with Christianity Today that has already received over 100k downloads. She is passionate about supporting women, and runs an online community called “I’m That Wife” which has over 260k followers. Heather will speak about “the power of our words to create our world.”

Hosted by the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, this event will be held in the Chemistry Amphitheater where Dr. Dwain Ford taught Organic Chemistry to many alums. Listen to several alumni present short talks about a current area of their professional interest, demonstrating the many directions that Dwain Ford inspired his students to take, followed by audience questions. Then at 4 p.m. those touched by Dwain Ford’s kindness will have an opportunity to share those memories.

Tour the current innovation lab and see the plans for the future innovation center, including the architectural drawings. Visit with Matias Soto, director of Innovation & Entrepreneurship, to learn more about the plans to create an innovation culture on campus.

35th Annual Homecoming Parade

Viewing bleachers curbside, between the Howard & Seminary buildings

Lineup for entries begins at 4:15 p.m. in the Andrews Academy parking lot and the parade ends at the PMC parking lot.

Come out and watch the pageantry of the creative floats, marching bands and fire trucks as they move through campus during this harvest-themed parade. Awardees will compete for over $500 in total prize money. Entrants will be judged based on personalization, originality, workmanship and spirit. Don’t forget to bring cash/credit card for the Sammy Arepas food truck that will be on-site with vegetarian Latin food offerings! Parade awards ceremony directly follows.

Harvest Tours

The wagon will load at the Alumni House backyard

Climb on board and join the wagon tour as it meanders around the orchards and farms. An adult needs to accompany small children. In case of rain, the Harvest Tour will be canceled.

The undergraduate pre-vet club is hosting a fundraiser to help our club raise money for future events and service opportunities. Our petting zoo will include opportunities to pet the animals, feed the animals, hold a rabbit, cuddle with a baby goat, and feed a baby goat a bottle of milk! We will also have some baked goods and sheep wool craft kits for sale!
