Office of Alumni Services
The Office of Alumni Services strives to provide the best service we can to both our alumni community and to the departments here at Andrews University. We provide the alumni community with a variety of ways to reconnect to each other, current students, and the university. Our goal is to offer multiple two-way channels of communication and a wide array of opportunities for alumni. Through involvement with regional events, class and reunion committees, alumni interest groups and college and school alumni activities, there are a myriad of ways for alumni to re-experience Andrews University.
On this page, we have outlined several of the more common services we provide to departments along with some expectations and guidelines.
Andrews University is committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of alumni and friends. Our office’s policy is to never share our alumni information externally without the permission of our alums, and personal information is never to be shared for commercial purposes or sold. Andrews has a small number of carefully screened affinity partners who offer benefits and special promotions to the Andrews community; however personal information is never shared directly with these companies and communication pieces are always handled through a third-party. If you have any questions or concerns about how alumni data is handled, please contact us at alumni@andrews.edu or (269) 471-3591.
Here at the Office of Alumni Services, we strive to keep an updated, accurate central alumni database. Our database is based within Banner, and our data entry people are highly trained to enter consistent data.
The methods our office employs in order to provide accurate data lists include:
- Data validation on email lists to identify and eliminate sending to invalid and undeliverable email addresses.
- Communication preferences to ensure alumni are only being contacted via the methods and subjects they want (we honor requests for no emails, no solicitation, etc.)
- Cleaning lists to avoid sending to duplicate addresses or deceased alums.
- Precise database entry for updated contact information we receive. Our methods of finding updated information include change of address notices, mailing returns, contact info updates from regional event registrations & attendees, directory projects and updates from departments, among other methods.
