The Storage/UNIX Administrator role is to operate and performance-tune storage and UNIX platforms across the organization to ensure high levels of data quality, high availability, and security. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure storage and UNIX provisioning, efficiency, and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Summary of essential job functions
Install & create virtual machines
Installation and Maintenance of software applications — Apache, IMAP, PHP, Perl, etc
Research and implement long term solutions and standards for various Operations issues.
Gather and analyze data/logs to investigate problems and determine root causes.
Collect and examine performance data to aid in capacity planning efforts.
Participation in planning and execution of load simulations
Collaboration with various teams and security resources to help maintain and improve infrastructure security
Automate processes and repetitive tasks.
Document policies and procedures.
Provide systems support for software developers, marketing teams.
Provide technical assistance for planning and implementation phases of new projects.
Assist in debugging software applications
Monitor performance and tweak UNIX OS
Create/modify users & their quota
Setup and configure LDAP
Bachelor or Masters in computer science or related field
Knowledge or familiar with of programming languages as: Perl, java, shell scripting
Programming knowledge or experience in a Unix environment
Ability to track and resolve defects
Working experience with scripting tools, Perl, and or UNIX shells is a plus Great
Communication and verbal skills
Openness to relocation within the US is preferred
