The Director of Marketing and Communications reports to the Vice President for External Affairs. The Director represents and promotes the University, increasing its visibility and supporting the institution’s mission, vision, and goals.
The Marketing and Communications Director plans, directs, and assists in the design, production, and implementation of all advertising, marketing, and public relations activities. Additionally, the Director responds to inquiries from outside the organization, serving as the liaison between the University and all media.
Managing the five-member office, the Director ensures that the Department of Marketing and Communications supports a range of strategic initiatives, including student recruitment, fundraising, alumni relations, faculty research, press engagement, and professional studies programs.
A master’s degree is required. Candidates must have 10 years of executive marketing and communications experience.
In addition to extraordinary communication skills, both oral and written, candidates must have a proven track record of managing a comprehensive marketing and communications department, including public and media relations, publications, advertising, website development, social media, enrollment marketing, and electronic communications.
Candidate should be achievement-oriented with experience in supporting and engaging key leaders and stakeholders.
A collegial, team-building work style, with a demonstrated ability to motivate staff and to cultivate productive, collaborative relationships with students, faculty, staff, board members, and alumni, is needed.
Candidate must have the ability to execute a creative and goal-oriented marketing and communications strategy, especially utilizing social media. Also required is the ability to create a professional work environment that rewards individual and collective success, builds confidence, and promotes diversity.
